‘Soldier Come Dancing!’ is a great concept. We have all seen the huge following generated by ‘Strictly….’!
I’m sure this idea, similarly, will capture the imagination and enthusiasm of many. I certainly hope so as it is in support of a great cause. SSAFA do outstanding and essential work for members of the Armed forces and their families, and once again, through this initiative, the SSAFA Forces Help Team are focusing appropriate attention on the need to help those suffering as a result of their military service. I am sure Soldier Come Dancing! will generate a lot of fun and I wish the project every success.
"Soldier Come Dancing! - what a brilliant idea... and that's not just because my wife's on the SSAFA Committee organising it! It gives all of us in 4 Mechanized Brigade, and the wider Catterick Garrison, the opportunity to have some fun and show how inventive and talented we all are.
What's more, the more fun we all have and the better we do, the more money we stand to raise for ourselves and our families within the Garrison. It's a win-win.
I ask you all to find the time to support this excellent venture. Get into the spirit; my HQ will put in a team, we'll have fun - although I can't vouch for quality."
“There was no way to truly quantify the positive effect on morale in the Army when we saw the video track ‘Is this the way to Armadillo’. I for one saw it as a perfect example of the Army’s sense of humour even when in robust and tough environments.
Collectively we now have the opportunity to ‘measure up’ to the Royal Dragoon Guards with an added degree of pressure as the RDG sit on our doorstep here in Catterick. The fact that this initiative will in no small measure contribute significant funds to SSAFA makes it all the more compelling.
As a New Zealander in the British Army I regard the spirit in adversity and ability for service men and woman to come to the fore with humour and perseverance at the most critical of moments, as fundamental to our makeup. The ‘Soldier Come Dancing’ initiative is a perfect medium for this spirit to be exercised and I will be encouraging my team from the Royal Military Police to engage. Tracks such as ‘Jail House Rock come to mind…”
