What will the money Soldier Come Dancing! raises be spent on?
The Soldier Come Dancing! competition is organised by SSAFA Forces Help at Catterick to raise funds to enable us to continue our welfare work on the Garrison.
SSAFA provide a whole range of support and welfare services to the servicemen and women of Catterick Garrison, including supporting their families and dependents. Often our work is on a one to one basis, and as such is kept strictly confidential.
The fact that we must keep so much of our work confidential means that it is sometimes hard for you, the public, to understand the real value of the work we do, or to see the difference that your donations can make to the lives of our Armed Forces personnel and their families.
Nevertheless, we can say that everytime we receive money from you 100% of it goes towards our work. All of our Committee members and officers, and our Community Volunteers, work on a purely voluntary basis. This means that all the funds we raise will go towards helping the Catterick Garrison community - be they a serviceman, woman, or a member of their family. If they need our help we are there for them.
However, we do also take on projects which benefit groups, and these we can tell you about.
One special project which we have just completed is the newly opened welfare and social facility for the 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment.

Our other special projects for 2009
We are currently assisting a number of other regiments around the Garrison to improve their welfare and social facilities.
Often these facilities are used not only by the serving personnel themselves, but are also used by the families and dependents.
We work closely with Unit Welfare Officers and the Regimental chain of command to make sure the facilities meet the needs of the regiments, and provide the kind of support that is most lacking.
We are also working with the Garrison Medical Centre to improve facilities for new mums and their babies by refurbishing and renovating the Baby Changing and Weighing Room.
We will be bringing you more information on these projects as they progress, so you can see for yourself the valuable work that SSAFA is doing and the massive differences that your generous donations can make to the lives of our Armed Forces personnel.
