The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families’ Association (SSAFA) Forces Help is the leading national charity helping those who serve in our Armed Forces, those who used to serve, and the families of both.

Each year it provides a caring and trusted service of practical, financial and emotional support to more than 50,000 people through its network of professional staff and volunteers.

SSAFA cares for our service community from their first day with the military.  Established in 1885, it operates alongside British troops, helping servicemen and families deal with everything from the daily concerns of military life, right through to coping with a serious injury or even the loss of a loved one. 

The Association goes on to help those who used to serve and their dependents with branches through the UK ensuring that our veterans get the welfare support they deserve.

Catterick Garrison In-Service Committee is the local branch with specific responsibility for all serving personnel and their dependents living in the Catterick Super Garrison area. All our Committee members work on a voluntary basis.

Since March 2009 we have given funding assistance in excess of £35,000 to various Regimental welfare projects and individuals from the Garrison.  Our work however can only continue if we have the funds to grant.   Our specific project focus for 2009, over and above our normal casework, is to assist all Catterick Regiments to set up social and welfare rooms which are Unit/Regiment specific.  We estimate this will cost in the region of £100,000 – and we must raise all the money we need through our own projects and events.
