Help and Guidance on Video File Formats
All the Soldier Come Dancing! videos that are entered into the competition will be uploaded to our channel on You Tube.
You Tube accepts a wide range of video file formats such as .WMV, .AVI, .MOV and .MPG transferred from most digital cameras, camcorders and mobile phones.
If you don't think your current video file format is recognised by You Tube, you may get the best results by converting your file to MPEG4 video with MP3 audio.
We would request that you do not use
Besta Video file format (.dsy)
Please also note that your file must not exceed 1GB in size.
Here's a summary of the audio and video specifications that you need for the best results on You Tube...
Video |
Resolution |
Recommended: 1280 x 720 (16 x 9 HD) and 640 x 480 (4:3 SD) There is no required minimum resolution - in general, the higher the resolution, the better and HD resolution is preferred. For older content, lower resolution is unavoidable.
Bit rate |
Because bit rate is highly dependent on codec, there is no recommended or minimum value. Videos should be optimised for resolution, aspect ratio and frame rate, rather than bit rate.
Frame rate |
The frame rate of the original video should be maintained without resampling. In particular, pulldown and other frame-rate resampling techniques are strongly discouraged.

Codec |
H.264, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 preferred.
