A message to everyone at Catterick Super Garrison...
You are probably wondering what Soldier Come Dancing! is all about...
Well, it's simple - it's a competition which aims to raise funds for SSAFA Forces Help here at Catterick so that we can continue our welfare work on the Garrison.
I'm sure you will all remember the highly popular and very entertaining video "Is this the way to Armadillo" which was put together by Staff Sgt Roger Parr, Sgt Andy Stokoe and Captain Mungo Ker of the Royal Dragoon Guards. You will also remember just how much the public adored it and that it was featured on the News at 10 on the BBC. What you may not know is that on You Tube this video alone has had more than 800,000 viewings since it was first posted there.
The public, who really do want ways to show their support for the Armed Forces, enjoy seeing the lighter side of military life - and like to share a laugh with us too.
So, we at SSAFA Forces Help here at Catterick came up with the idea of Soldier Come Dancing! - we thought it would be great fun to organise a competition based on your dancing videos as we know there are many of you who like to take dancing to extremes! We also know that the public will really enjoy watching them.
So in essence, that's what the Soldier Come Dancing! competition is all about - you and your wonderful dancing skills helping us to raise money so that we can help you!

However, this competition can only be a success if you support it by entering. So we are asking you, the serving men and women of Catterick Garrison, to give up a little of your precious spare time to create some wonderfully amusing and entertaining dance videos.
Your competition videos will be loaded onto our You Tube Channel where all your friends and family, and the general public, will be able to watch your videos for free. They will also be able to cast a free vote for their favourite video, and be able to give them a star rating.
That's the free part - so, how do we raise money from all this? Well, that's up to the public and all the visitors to this site.
We will be asking them to do one simple thing...
If they've enjoyed watching the videos, and have picked their favourite - they can show their appreciation by clicking on the JustGiving link beside it. They can thenmake a donation and leave a message of support.
It's The Public Who Choose the Winners!
Prizes will be awarded to the videos that get the most viewings overall, the most votes, and a special prize to the video that generates the most donations in support. |
